NCR Corp. and Unisys Corp. have launched new computers that they expect to boost results, but executives of both warn that a difficult period may be ahead in the electronics industry amid signs of an order slowdown. NCR said it added a new line of minicomputers that offer a 50% improvement in price and performance over existing I-series models. Unisys said it introduced a new family of mid-range computers that offer a 4-to-1 improvement in price and performance over its 1100/60-70 computers.
