CBS founder and board chairman William S. Paley, 86, was released Tuesday from New York Hospital after several weeks of serious illness following an emergency gall bladder operation on Feb. 11. Paley had been listed Feb. 19 as critically ill with lung and kidney failure. He now will continue recuperating at home. A CBS statement said the veteran broadcast executive left the hospital with his condition “remarkably improved.”
