College Highlights : Cal Lutheran Pitchers Take a Beating, 11-2

Six Cal Lutheran pitchers allowed 12 hits as Cal State Dominguez Hills defeated the visiting Kingsmen, 11-2, in a nonconference baseball game Wednesday.
Junior right-hander Matt Shepherd started and surrendered two first-inning runs before giving way to Daniel Meltreger in the third. Meltreger (0-1) suffered the loss.
Dominguez Hills scored two runs in the first and seventh innings, three in the fourth and eighth and another in the third inning.
The Kingsmen (6-6) collected both of their hits in the sixth. Jeff Chalmers singled, Dave Lenhardt walked and Dan Weis followed with a two-run single to left.
The Master’s 5, Southern California 4--David Mayr knocked in the winning run in the eighth inning of the NAIA District III game at Southern California College.
Senior Jeff Hagy (2-3) pitched a complete game, allowing 6 hits, striking out 10 and walking 2. Tod Skinner improved his .412 average by going 3 for 3.
Master’s improved to 5-8, 4-4 in district play.
SOFTBALL
Moorpark 3, El Camino 0--Wendy Tabakman, Heidi Leal and Jamie McDaniel each singled home a run in the first inning and Janeen Duncan threw a two-hit shutout in the nonconference game at El Camino. Duncan (4-1) walked 2 and struck out 5.
Moorpark’s Malia Ouzts led off the game with a single, advanced to second on Holly Pwauoroff’s passed ball, stole third and scored on Tabakman’s single. Rhonda Nelson’s two wild pitches moved Tabakman to third before she scored on Leal’s two-out single. Leal stole second, went to third on a second passed ball and scored on McDaniel’s single.
GOLF
Moorpark 374, Antelope Valley 441--Keith Thykeson won low medalist honors with a 1-under-par 70 to lead Moorpark in the nonconference match at Simi Hills.
WOMEN’S TENNIS
CS Northridge 9, Chapman 0--Allison Kincaid and Missy Conn won singles matches to lead CSUN in a California Collegiate Athletic Assn. match at home.
VOLLEYBALL
Pierce d. Palomar, 13-15, 15-2, 15-9, 15-5--Matt Bellers had 18 kills and Turhan Douglas added 12 in the nonconference match at Pierce. Ruben Valerio served four aces for the Brahmas (5-0, 3-0 in South Coast Conference play).
