Rosemead : Newsrack ‘Modesty’ Law

The City Council has adopted an ordinance requiring “modesty” shields on newsracks that carry publications dealing with sexual material.
The one newsrack in the city affected by the ordinance will have to shield the bottom two-thirds of such publications from view. The council adopted the ordinance at the request of a resident who had heard of a similar ordinance in another city, said Don Wagner, assistant city manager.
