Preston Robert Tisch, former Loews Corp. president and chief operating officer who served as postmaster general for 19 months, will return to the company as president, co-chief executive and a director.
Loews said Tisch, who announced Jan. 5 that he was leaving the postal position to resume private business, was elected to the posts, which include the newly created title of co-chief executive. He will share that responsibility with his brother Laurence Tisch, who will remain company chairman.
The office of Loews president had remained vacant after Preston Robert Tisch became postmaster general in August, 1986. He agreed to stay in that post until the March 1 arrival of his successor, California banker Anthony M. Frank.
Based in New York, Loews is a holding company with interests in tobacco products, hotels, real estate and insurance.
