MADRID — More than 1,000 people have been detained in a two-day nationwide crackdown on drug trafficking, Spanish police said on Saturday.
In raids throughout the country, police seized about 22 pounds of cocaine, almost four pounds of heroin and 110 pounds of marijuana, as well as hundreds of guns and knives.
A total of 1,026 people were detained, of whom about 800 had been handed over to the courts, police said.
The operation was part of a series of surprise swoops by police against drug dealers in the past year.
