Lawndale to Hold Candidate Forum Thursday

Lawndale City Council candidates will speak and answer questions from the press and public at a forum 7 p.m. Thursday, sponsored by Soroptimist International of Lawndale-South Bay at the Lawndale Civic Center, 14717 Burin Ave.
Twelve candidates are running for office in the April 12 election. To be decided are a two-year term as mayor, two four-year terms on the council and one two-year council seat. The candidates are: Mayor Sarann Kruse, Councilman Larry Rudolph, business data analyst Nancy J. Marthens and aerospace production scheduler Ronald V. Maxwell for mayor; Councilmen Harold E. Hofmann and Terry W. Birdsall, Planning Commissioner Carol Norman, office manager Virginia Rhodes and paralegal Ralph C. Williams for the four-year terms, and Councilman Dan McKenzie, homemaker Tina Zarro and flight engineer Herman Weinstein for the two-year term. The top two vote-getters for the four-year seat will win.
