The Ohio Senate approved two bills designed to help Federated Department Stores fend off a takeover attempt by Campeau Corp. Federated has rejected a $4.2-billion tender offer by Campeau, which is based in Toronto. Campeau was expected to make another bid for the nation’s fifth-largest retailer, which owns Bloomingdale’s and Bullock’s among other chains.
