Community College Basketball : Ammann Has 26 Points in Dons’ Win
Kenny Ammann scored 26 points to lead Rancho Santiago College to a 70-61 victory over Saddleback Saturday in an Orange Empire Conference men’s basketball game at Rancho Santiago.
The victory moves the Dons (19-6, 4-1) into second place in the conference race at the halfway point. Saddleback (15-8, 3-2) is third. Cypress (22-5, 5-0) leads the conference.
Ammann, a sophomore transfer from Cal State Bakersfield, made 13 of 15 free throws for Rancho Santiago. Ammann is the leading scorer in Orange County, averaging 21 points a game. Chris Martin added 19, including 17 in the first half for Rancho Santiago, which led at halftime, 39-23.
Vincent Smalls led Saddleback with 21 points and Renny Ingram had 17, including three three-point baskets. Smalls also had a game-high 11 rebounds.
