Associated Press
NEW YORK — A man was arrested today after breaking into the mid-town residence of Roman Catholic Cardinal John O’Connor and menacing a staff member with a knife, police said.
No one was injured in the 1 a.m. break-in at the residence, located behind St. Patrick’s Cathedral, police Sgt. Ed Burns said. The intruder, a man in his 20s, confronted a member of the residence’s staff, and her screams awoke Msgr. James McCarthy, who called police and subdued the burglar until they arrived.
