Man Is Shot to Death in Car Outside Lucky Lady Bar
A 35-year-old San Diego man was killed by a shotgun blast to the head as he sat in his car outside a 16th Street bar early Monday morning, police said.
The man was identified as Isidro Gonzalez Romero, of the 1200 block of Caminito Pimienta, by Deputy Coroner Jack Larkie.
Police said Romero and two others were in the parking lot of the Lucky Lady Bar, 455 16th St., at 1:55 a.m. when an unidentified man came up to the driver’s side of the car and fired two rounds from a shotgun.
Romero was hit in the temple and killed and a woman sitting in the front seat with him received a minor bruise when a shotgun pellet struck her face, Sgt. Ed Petrick said. The first shot was believed to have been fired into the air.
Petrick said police interviewed witnesses at the scene but received vague descriptions of the man who fired the shots. “Nobody wants to be a witness,†he said.
The two people in the car at the time of the shooting were questioned by police, Petrick said. They told police they did not know the man who killed Romero.
“We have no motive,†Petrick said. “We have no idea why it happened.â€
