NBA Roundup : Wilkins Leads Hawks Over Cavaliers, 101-93
Dominique Wilkins scored 10 of his 28 points during a 25-10 run in the second quarter and made a couple of key baskets late in the game to lead the Atlanta Hawks to a 101-93 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers Thursday night at Richfield, Ohio.
Mark Price made a three-point play as Cleveland moved within seven points with 6:54 left, but Wilkins countered with a layup. After Brad Daugherty’s field goal, Wilkins made a jumper to give the Hawks a 91-82 lead.
Glenn Rivers added 15 points and 12 assists as Atlanta beat the Cavaliers for the fifth straight time.
Houston 116, Milwaukee 103--Akeem Olajuwon scored 28 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, and Rodney McCray and Sleepy Floyd each added 22 points to give the Rockets two victories over the Bucks in Milwaukee for the first time ever. Houston defeated the Bucks in Milwaukee, 102-93, on Dec. 30.
Houston led, 92-81, entering the fourth quarter, but Randy Breuer’s dunk narrowed the gap to 105-97 with 3:26 left. Floyd then made a layup and converted a free throw to make it 108-97.
