Vietnamese officials say that an agreement on children fathered by Americans during the Vietnam War will allow 8,000 to 12,000 Amerasians and 22,000 close relatives to emigrate to the United States over two years, two U.S. congressmen said. Reps. Robert J. Mrazek (D-N.Y.) and Thomas J. Ridge (R-Pa.), speaking in Bangkok after a visit to Hanoi, said final details will be worked out by a U.S. delegation in talks beginning Feb. 4 in Vietnam.
