Officials will gather in old downtown Torrance at 4 p.m. today to break ground for a $1.2-million expansion of the city’s Bartlett Senior Citizen Center.
Plans call for the two-story building to include recreational facilities, a courtyard, lounge, library, arts and crafts studios, a dining area and kitchen and a multipurpose room.
The project, which has been in the planning stages for more than two years, will add 13,000 square feet to the center, which serves Torrance’s growing senior citizen population.
The work is being financed by state bonds and city funds.
