Local News in Brief : Costa Mesa : 5th-Grade Fair Slated by Dept. of Education

An exhibit and fair focusing on problems and potentials of fifth-grade students will be held from 8:30 a.m. to noon Saturday in Building A of the Orange County Department of Education Headquarters at 200 Kalmus Drive.
The “Five Alive Fair” is free and open to the public. “It is geared more to teachers, but parents and students are welcome, and I’m sure they’ll find many interesting things,” said Tim Carpenter, a spokesman for the department.
“Basically, we think the fifth grade is a very pivotal time in a student’s development,” Carpenter said. “It’s a time of developing problem-solving skills and good homework patterns.”
