NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A former county judge who resigned hours after he was indicted for accepting bribes shot his estranged wife to death with a shotgun today and then committed suicide, police said.
Police Chief Joe Casey said Sterling Gray, 44, a former Davidson County criminal court judge, shot and killed his wife, Kristin B. Gray, in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the Bellevue section of Nashville, then turned the shotgun on himself. Casey said the couple had been separated about a week. Gray was indicted Nov. 17 on charges of accepting $28,000 from two criminal defendants. He resigned several hours after his arrest.
