U.S. Vetoes U.N. Rebuke of Israel on S. Lebanon

UNITED NATIONS — The United States on Monday vetoed a Security Council resolution deploring “the repeated Israeli attacks” against southern Lebanon, saying the measure ignored the use of Lebanese territory for attacks on Israel.
Britain abstained on similar grounds while the other 13 members of the council voted in favor of the resolution.
