Community College Basketball Roundup : Cypress Wins Conference Opener

Jeff Green scored 16 points and Jim Sammon 15, including 13 in the second half, to lead Cypress College to a 60-53 victory over Orange Coast Tuesday at OCC in the Orange Empire Conference men’s basketball opener for both teams.

OCC (13-10) took a 37-35 lead with 15 minutes left in the game, but Cypress went on a 10-0 run to open a 45-37 lead with 10 minutes left.

Chris Brodowski scored 12 and John Jackson 9, including a rebound basket to give Cypress (17-5) a 54-51 lead with 3:55 left.

Green made a three-point basket with 1:40 left to give Cypress a 59-52 lead.

David Miles scored 22 and Mike Meyers 12 for OCC.
