Mansfield Expected to Stay Hospital 2 More Weeks

WASHINGTON — Mike Mansfield, the U.S. ambassador to Japan who is recovering from heart bypass surgery, is expected to remain at Walter Reed Hospital for another two weeks, a hospital spokesman said Tuesday. Mansfield, 84, underwent surgery on Jan. 5, two days after entering the hospital for tests.
