A motorcyclist led police on a high-speed, 30-minute chase Monday through the San Fernando Valley and West Los Angeles before crashing, police said.
They said Alan Holland, 24, of Sun Valley received only minor injuries when he crashed on Sepulveda Boulevard in Sherman Oaks after leaving the San Diego Freeway about 2:30 a.m. Police said he was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving and may face other charges.
The chase began at 2 a.m. when patrol officers attempted to stop Holland after he was spotted speeding on Sherman Way near Hazeltine Avenue, police said. They said Holland stopped but then sped away as officers got out of their patrol car.
The motorcycle Holland was riding reached speeds of up to 100 m.p.h. during the chase, police said. He traveled along several Valley roads, then south on the San Diego Freeway into West Los Angeles, then into Santa Monica, police said. They said he eventually got back on the San Diego Freeway and returned to the Valley.
Because of the dangerous speeds, patrol cars dropped out of the chase and a police helicopter followed the motorcycle from above, police said.
