Local News in Brief : Patrol Car Struck
A sheriff’s deputy found a drunk driver the hard way early Thursday when a teen-ager’s car crashed into the back of his patrol car at a stoplight in Pico Rivera, authorities said.
Deputy Eldon Crowder’s car was hit about 1:35 a.m. at Rosemead and Washington boulevards, Deputy Dan Cox said. Crowder was treated at Whittier Presbyterian Hospital for a severe headache and neck pain, then released.
Deputies arrested a 16-year-old Rosemead boy on suspicion of drunk driving, Cox said. The youth’s companion, a 17-year-old Pico Rivera boy, was arrested on suspicion of being drunk in public, he said.
Neither youth’s name was released because of their age.
