An unhappy Tony Dorsett says he doesn’t expect to be playing for the Dallas Cowboys after this Sunday’s final game against the St. Louis Cardinals.
“Personally, I just don’t see me being here,†the 33-year-old Dorsett said. “The only way I can see being here next year is if no other team in the league was interested in me.
Dorsett, who has said he is upset with splitting playing time with running back Hershel Walker, has two years left on a five-year contract that will pay him $500,000 in base salary in each of the next two seasons. He also stands to earn an additional $2.4 million in annuities if he completes his contract.
Cowboys President Tex Schramm said the club’s financial obligations to Dorsett end if he is traded. That means another team would have to finance the final two years of his annuity.
