College Basketball : Northridge Wins Game Crowded With Mistakes

It’s not often when there are more turnovers than fans, but that’s what happened at Cal State Northridge on Wednesday night as the Lady Matadors defeated Cal State Hayward, 46-43, before 59 fans in a nonconference game.
Vicki Mallett scored a game-high 15 points for Northridge. Twins Kathleen and Marianne Dixon added nine and eight points, respectively.
There were 67 turnovers in the game, 33 by the Lady Matadors. At one point in the second half, six turnovers were committed between baskets.
Northridge (3-5), which led, 28-20, at halftime, had as many turnovers in the second half (18) as points.
Angela Martin led Hayward (3-5) with 12 points.
MEN
Rio Hondo 82, Moorpark 68--Fred Parks of Moorpark scored a team-high 20 points in the first round of the Crown City tournament at Pasadena College.
Mike Varos scored a game-high 22 points for Rio Hondo (8-4). Chris Allen added 18 points and Darrin Posey 16.
