Death Sentence Commuted

TUNIS, Tunisia — President Zine Abidine ben Ali on Wednesday commuted the death sentence passed on a Muslim fundamentalist leader to hard labor for life. Ali Laaridh, head of the banned Islamic Tendency Movement, was convicted of trying to overthrow the government with Iranian help.
