Taking Spanish in Spain

This year I met some of your readers in Spain who enrolled in Prof. Palacios’ program. My wife and I were among them. The core of the program is the University of Salamanca, founded in the 11th Century, the third oldest in Europe. Queen Isabella appointed a commission of professors from Salamanca to assess the plan of Columbus to sail west to reach India.

Classes in beginning and advanced Spanish are in the curriculum as well as a course, in Spanish, on the culture of Spain. On weekends there are visits to Madrid, Toledo, Segovia and other historic sites. The last week of the program offers an excursion to southern Spain or to Portugal. Information about the program can be obtained from Prof. Rodrigo Palacios, 755 Trotter Court, Walnut, Calif. 91789.
