Jack Rennert, the king of classic posters from NYC, did substantial business at his auction in the Registry Hotel last weekend. He figured more than $500,000 in sales. That includes $34,100 for an 1892 Toulouse-Lautrec and $23,100 for a 1912 Odeon Casino by German artist Walter Schnackenberg. Rennert believes that’s a record for the latter.

But he only sold a fourth of his film posters--and those not for very hot prices and from out-of-town buyers.
