Women’s Roundup : Anae, Torczon Lead Fullerton to Win in Its Tournament Opener

Senior forward Wendy Anae scored 18 points and center Amy Torczon added 17 to lead Cal State Fullerton’s 79-54 victory over the University of San Francisco in the opening game of the Cal State Fullerton women’s basketball tournament.
Fullerton plays Cal Poly Pomona in the final tonight at 7:30.
Torczon also had 16 rebounds. Fullerton guard Jane Hentzen added 12, and junior forward Felicia Benson had 11. Alice Solis scored 18 for USF.
In the other Fullerton tournament game:
Cal Poly Pomona 73, Sam Houston 54--Cathy Gooden scored 17 points and Niki Bracken and Marcine Edmonds scored 12 each for Cal Poly Pomona. Carrie Egan, a freshman from Brea-Olinda High School, scored six points for Cal Poly Pomona.
In a nonconference game:
Loyola Marymount 94, Southern California 38--Kristian Bruich scored 18 points and Amy Atkinson and Kris Hagemann had 16 each for Loyola at SCC.
Gail Brown scored 13 and Mary Sullivan 10 for SCC (1-2).
