Scandinavian Airlines System may make a rival bid to British Airways’ plan to take over British Caledonian, the country’s second-largest airline, the Financial Times reported. A British Caledonian spokesman confirmed that Chairman Sir Adam Thomson was having talks in London with Scandinavian Airlines President Jan Carlzon but declined to elaborate. British Airways last week reduced its bid for British Caledonian to $260 million from its original $397 million in July because of the stock market crash in October.
