Peter Gilmour continued his domination of the World Cup of Match Racing series by outsailing Britain’s Eddie Owen in the finals of the Nippon Cup at Sagami Bay, Japan.

Gilmour, who will be the skipper of one of Australia’s next America’s Cup boats, has won the first 3 of 8 qualifying events for the World Cup final next August off Long Beach--the Liberty, Australia and Nippon Cups--as well as two other match racing regattas.

Following Gilmour and Owen in order were Chris Dickson, New Zealand; Peter Isler, San Diego; Marc Bouet, France, and Gary Jobson, New York.

Gilmour swept all three races from Owen in the finals.

Conditions were cold with winds between 20 and 30 knots. The site is 100 kilometers southwest of Tokyo.

The next World Cup event will be the Congressional Cup off Long Beach in March.
