Philippine Col. Gregorio (Gringo) Honasan said he plans new moves to topple the Manila government. The Financial Post newspaper quoted Honasan, the leader of an August coup attempt, as saying he is “definitely” planning further action to oust President Corazon Aquino, possibly during the Dec. 14-16 summit of the Assn. of Southeast Asian Nations. Meanwhile, the military announced the surrender of Lt. Col. Roberto Navida, a key figure in the failed coup. It also said that Juanito Rivera, a high-ranking Communist leader who was captured Sunday, disclosed that rebels are planning new terror attacks in Manila.
