San Ysidro
A man who allegedly escaped with nearly $1,500 from the Home Federal Savings in San Ysidro Tuesday was apprehended in a women’s shoe store 40 minutes after the robbery, San Diego police spokesman Bill Robinson said.
According to police, the man entered the bank in the 300 block of East San Ysidro Boulevard shortly before noon and said he had a gun. He escaped on foot with $1,493.
A motorcycle officer saw a man matching the robber’s description sitting on a park bench near the bank. The man fled and was later seen inside a women’s shoe store, where he was apprehended.
The money was found inside the man’s sock, police said. No gun was found.
Desmond Patrick Arbuckle, 21, of Irvine, was later turned over to the FBI, which booked him into the Metropolitan Correctional Center in downtown San Diego on suspicion of bank robbery.
