Charges against a 70-year-old Miramar man were changed to murder Saturday after his wife died earlier in the day of a beating she received Oct. 23, San Diego police said.
Millard Edward Fegan had been arrested Oct. 23 on suspicion of spousal abuse in the beating of 67-year-old Edna Budick Fegan, police said.
She died at Sharp Memorial Hospital of multiple head injuries, a hospital representative said.
Edna Fegan was found by San Diego police officers in the upstairs hallway of their home in the 10200 block of Caminito Agadir, police spokesman Bill Robinson said.
