The parents of a woman student allegedly assaulted by football player Keaton Smiley at the University of Iowa have asked school officials to expel him.
Smiley, a redshirt defensive back from Duncanville, Tex., pleaded guilty Oct. 2 to charges of aggravated assault in connection with an incident involving student Cheryl Zemaitis June 9.
Smiley allegedly hit Zemaitis and threatened to cut her with a knife while holding her against her will in his Iowa City apartment.
