Bodies of Two Women Found in Rosemead Church
Two elderly women were killed Friday at a Rosemead church where they apparently worked and sheriff’s deputies said they wanted to talk to the church custodian about the deaths, detectives said.
The bodies were discovered at about 2:55 p.m. in separate locations at the Chinese for Christ Los Angeles Mandarin Church at 3342 Del Mar Ave. One of the victims was identified as a church employee, Harriet Baden, 75, said sheriff’s spokesman Gabe Ramirez. The identity of the other victim was not immediately available.
Details of how the women died were sketchy, but detectives indicated that they may have been beaten to death.
Ramirez said a transient who worked at the church as a custodian was being sought for questioning in connection with the deaths. “But he’s not a suspect at this point,†he said.
The transient was described as being in his 30s, 6 feet tall and of thin build. He was wearing a white T-shirt and dark trousers, detectives said.
