Household International’s income rose 4% to $61.8 million in the third quarter. The Prospect Heights, Ill., company credited the gain to improvements in both its businesses, with financial services’ income increasing 14% due to improved consumer segment results, and manufacturing income up 24% due to higher sales and earnings in all segments. In addition, last year’s quarter included an $11.9-million gain from discontinued operations.
