A 14-year-old reputed gang member who allegedly shot four youths at a Los Angeles junior high school pleaded innocent Wednesday to four counts of attempted murder and seven counts of assault with a deadly weapon.

The youth denied the charges at his arraignment in Juvenile Court and was ordered to remain in custody without bail pending a Nov. 16 trial.

Authorities said he fired an automatic weapon into a group of students eating lunch in a cafeteria at John Adams Junior High School on 30th Street on Friday, striking three of them, ages 11, 14 and 15.

Two hours later, the youth allegedly rode by the school on a bicycle and shot another student. None of the victims was seriously injured.

The youth, at the urging of his mother, surrendered Saturday to police.
