City workers will receive a 15% raise spread over three years under a new wage package unanimously approved last week by the Norwalk City Council. The council also approved a 16.5% salary increase over the same period for management personnel, including the city manager and department heads.

Management will get a 5.5% raise each year of the contract, retroactive to last July. Raises for rank and file workers will be staggered over a number of intervals, totaling 4.5% the first year, 5.75% the second year, and 5% the third year. Their agreement is retroactive to Sept. 20.

The raises for the 190 full-time municipal employees will cost the city a total of $657,169. The cost of the management raises was not available.
