The Papal Visit : Papal Digest : A Spinoff From Visit--Priests Get Cable TV

In case anyone was wondering how Pope John Paul II would be entertained in his few off-hours, St. Vibiana’s rectory has just been outfitted with cable television especially for the visit.
In accordance with company policy, American Cable Systems of California picked up the cost of the wiring, chief executive David Keefe said, but the rectory paid for the installation and basic service. That means the pontiff won’t get HBO or Showtime but he can get MTV.
“We understand that the Pope was particularly interested in CNN and WTBS,” Keefe said.
There’s one added bonus of the papal visit, however. Keefe said 12 outlets were installed for the rectory priests, who now join the ranks of those lucky few downtown residents with cable TV.
