29 Nominees for Thorpe Award

Twenty-nine college football players have been nominated for the second annual Jim Thorpe award to be presented to the best defensive back in college football on Jan. 19.

The award is presented by the Jim Thorpe Club in Oklahoma. Nominations for the award are made by coaches, sports information directors, pro scouts and newsmen.

A panel of national sports writers and sportscasters will select 10 finalists and a committee of formers players, coaches and media will select the winner.
