The authors have created a delightful tool for home living and claim that it is the first book designed specifically for homeowners in general, in which all data relating to their home can be recorded (with categories listing useful reminders) relating not only to the history of the house and its location but, more specifically, pinpointing all essential information on the condition of its components, important maintenance schedules, maps delineating wiring and plumbing routes and household equipment instructions. The collaborative effort of Ballantine, an editor with Bantam Books, and his friend Weinberg, an artist and remedial reading teacher, stemmed from Weinberg’s encounter with a variety of pitfalls when buying a home with very little knowledge of its history.
