What would otherwise be a slow, summer television weekend will be brightened a bit by the specials that PBS stations are showing today and Sunday to wrap up their current pledge drives.
Mostly, the programs will be musical. KCET’s production of “Sentimental Swing: The Music of Tommy Dorsey” plays today at 4 p.m. on Channel 28, at 8 p.m. on Channel 15 and 10 p.m. on Channel 50.
Peter, Paul and Mary are featured at 7 tonight on Channel 50 (in an “Evening at Pops” concert) and at 10 tonight on Channel 28 (in a 25th anniversary concert). Also on tap: “The Compleat Beatles” at 7:30 tonight on Channel 28, and a Lawrence Welk special at 8:30 tonight on Channel 50.
On Sunday, look for “Judy Garland: The Concert Years” at 6 p.m., and “A Musical Toast: The Stars Shine on Public Television” at 8:05 p.m. on Channel 28.
