U.S. Customs Commissioner William von Raab told the Virginia Assn. of Chiefs of Police in Roanoke that if Colombia fails to respond to recent acts of narcotics-spurred terrorism, a “tidal wave of drugs†will hit U.S. shores. In the speech, a copy of which was released by customs officials in Washington, Von Raab cited an article in the New York Times on Sunday that said Colombian court decisions have reassured traffickers that they are safe from extradition to the United States.
