Construction will begin later this month on a $2-million storm drain project on a 1.2-mile stretch of Harbor Boulevard, a city official has announced.
George Tindall, assistant city manager and director of public works, said the construction contract was awarded to Desatoff Construction Co. of Hacienda Heights.
He said the project will not be completed until March and that detour signs will be posted. Some lanes of the busy thoroughfare will be closed at times.
Tindall said the project will extend from Laurel Street to Twintree Avenue, an area affected by flooding during heavy rains. The improvements include a major storm drain with catch basins, utility relocations and street resurfacing.
