Crappie Catches Keep Anglers Busy at Lake Henshaw
As usual, the biggest fish have been the catfish and sporadic striped bass taken from various state reservoirs this week, but some anglers have made impressive catches of much smaller fish: crappie.
The bite has been the hottest at Lake Henshaw, where Ron and Dean Schoeneck of San Diego teamed up to catch 50 crappie weighing 48 pounds. Bill Houston of Los Angeles was also successful, catching 25 fish totaling 18 pounds.
