Fullerton : Western Law College Head Takes New Post
William B. Lawless, 65, president of Western State University College of Law with campuses here and in San Diego, has been appointed dean of the National Judicial College in Reno.
The judicial college trains more than 1,500 judges a year in current legal trends and concepts. Lawless was an adviser to the college when it was formed in 1963 and was on its board of directors in 1976-81.
Lawless will assume his new post Sept. 1, succeeding John W. Kern III, who resigned to return as a senior judge for the District of Columbia Court of Appeals.
Lawless was formerly dean of the Notre Dame Law School and was a justice on the New York Supreme Court.
