Sammy Davis Jr. also honored the NABET strike--by declining to appear on NBC’s “The Tonight Show,” Daily Variety reported. Davis’ manager said the singer told the show’s producer that he “has never crossed a picket line and that if he did it (Tuesday night), what he’d done in the past and whatever he said in the future would be invalid.” KNBC-TV weatherman Fritz Coleman subbed for Davis on the program.
