Ivan F. Boesky’s sentencing has been postponed until Oct. 9 because of his cooperation with government prosecutors, his lawyer said. Boesky, the former stock speculator who has pleaded guilty to one charge of conspiracy to make false statements to the Securities and Exchange Commission, had been scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 21. He faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine when he goes before U.S. District Judge Morris E. Lasker in Manhattan. Carol Weiss, spokeswoman for the U.S. attorney’s office in Manhattan, acknowledged the delay but said she did not know the reason for the postponement. Lawyers familiar with the Boesky case had said they expected his sentence date to be postponed.
