Gardena : Contract Increase OKd
Up to $25,000 can be added to awarded contracts without City Council approval under an ordinance introduced this week by Councilman Paul Tsukahara.
Currently any increase has to be approved by the council. Under the new ordinance, the additional funds can be added for extra work or materials.
City Atty. Michael Karger said the ordinance will save money by eliminating administrative costs incurred when requests for additional funds are brought back to the council.
A second reading of the ordinance will be held Aug. 25. If approved, it will take effect 30 days later.
