Ex-KKK and Neo-Nazi Leader Found Nailed to Board
SACRAMENTO — A former neo-Nazi leader and KKK member was nailed through the palms of his hands to a board, slashed with a razor and left in a shopping center parking lot, the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department said Monday.
Gregory Withrow, 26, who severed ties with the Ku Klux Klan and neo-Nazis during the last year, was found just before midnight Sunday near a suburban shopping plaza, Sheriff’s Sgt. Tennise Allen said.
She said his wrists were tied to a 1-by-8 board placed behind his neck and across his shoulder blades, as in a crucifixion.
“He wasn’t nailed to a cross, but his hands were nailed to the wood, with an eight-penny nail through each palm,” Allen said. “Someone had slashed him between the throat and the collar bones, supposedly with a straight razor.”
Withrow was taken to American River Hospital for treatment and was released. He refused to file a complaint, Allen said. “He’s not talking.”
Allen said Withrow may have been attacked by people still in the white supremacist groups.
“He’s been involved with KKK and neo-Nazi groups in the past, and he has renounced membership in those organizations,” she said. “Ever since that point, he seems to have been having some difficulty.”
