Nine Pacific Southwest Airlines executives have been discharged by USAir Group, which acquired the San Diego-based airline in May, a spokesman for PSA said.
The dismissals, which occurred about two weeks ago, were the first management changes at the airline. Arlington, Va.-based USAir has indicated that it will eventually fold PSA’s West Coast operations into USAir’s national operation.
Those dismissed were John Siefert, vice president-marketing; Jim Johnston, director of advertising; Byron H. Miller, vice president-fleet planning; Paul E. Rasmussen, vice president and treasurer; Morton Rible, vice president-human resources and administration; Steve Gardella, staff vice president-security; Tim Smith, director of marketing and passenger sales; Dick Glover, director of marketing research and automation, and Jim Light, director of marketing administration.
PSA Chief Executive Paul Barkley and President Russell Ray remain at the airline. Barkley will leave the airline by the end of the year to concentrate on his duties as president of PS Group, PSA’s former holding company. PS Group, minus the airline, is involved in oil and gas production.
Joining Barkely at PS Group will be Miller; George Shortley, PSA’s chief financial officer; Lawrence A. Guske, vice president-finance, and perhaps one or two other airline executives, the PSA spokesman said.
